The title says it all. Although this isn't really the best measure of value in a programming skill, it's still nice to see CF back in the top 20. I'll be happier when we overtake Ruby (and the I hear the sound of a 10k teenage Ruby fan-girls crying out in anger).

The 30onAIR campaign is still growing strong and some new 'Why ColdFusion?' videos have popped up. Our community has done an awesome job of hijacking this marketing campaign (my vid is the 3rd most popular). I think we've just scratched the surface though. Ben sent a number of cameras to people with some crazy ideas. If you haven't taken a look lately, here are a few of my favorites.2 comments - Posted by Adrock at 2:49 AM - Categories: ColdFusion
The bits are live and the release formerly known as Gemini can be downloaded immediately from Adobe.com. Not only does the free ColdFusion 8 Update 1 roll-up some minor bug fixes, it also adds support for new operating systems (including 64bit) and some extended functionality (attributeCollection). Hit the jump for a complete overview of this milestone release.

Active Networks, an awesome ColdFusion shop based out of San Diego, has a few openings for ColdFusion developers. They are looking to fill a ColdFusion lead position, as well as in intermediate one. More info after the jump.0 comments - Posted by Adrock at 5:28 PM - Categories: ColdFusion
After much delay, I've finally got a hold on the sessions we'll be presenting at cf.objective() 2008. It was a bit harder to plan for this conference since the team behind cf.obj() is really focused on enterprise development. This meant I couldn't offer the same old 'ColdFusion 8 Feature X' type of presentation and instead had to come up with some higher-level ideas. Here's what we've got lined up...1 comments - Posted by Adrock at 4:26 AM - Categories: ColdFusion | Flex | AIR
Regardless of the spin from New Atlanta, the move to open source BlueDragon appears to be a last ditch effort to breathe life into a dying business. However, that doesn't mean the project couldn't be a success like mySQL or Eclipse. But can New Atlanta deliver on their promises and take this project where it needs to go? Their history of business and anti-community practices would say otherwise.

Next week marks the return of Adobe Developer Week and I'm presenting 3 different ColdFusion sessions. The first session on Monday is aimed at new CFML customers and is an overview of the award winning release. On Wednesday we'll step it up a notch and explore the Adobe Technology Platform and how to build ColdFusion powered Flex/AIR applications. The final sessions on Thursday is a bit more advanced and I'm really looking forward to it. We'll use the open source Blaze DS project to add simple chat functionality to an existing ColdFusion application (while providing an overview of CF/LCDS integration). Check my calendar for more details.
