ColdFusion 8 Wins Web Development Award in India

Adobe ColdFusion 8 won the Web Development award at the 2008 Great Indian Developer Summit. The award highlights web development and deployment tools that help developers and designers push the boundaries of the web. ColdFusion beat out ASP.NET and Oracle WebCenter for the coveted prize. The award is a good indicator that ColdFusion's popularity is growing rapidly in India.

I'm The New Product Manager for ColdFusion

It's official. I'm the new Product Manager for ColdFusion and Bolt. After a considerable amount of internal debate, I decided to step up and take the lead of the product I love so much. I don't mean to sound sappy, but I'm incredibly humbled that the rest of the ColdFusion team trusts me enough to fulfill this role. I'm honored to follow in the footsteps of people I admire.

ColdFusion Competitive Comparison to Java, ASP.NET and PHP

From a technical perspective it's easy to see why so many developers choose Adobe ColdFusion. ColdFusion has all the native capabilities of Java but with a ton of value-added features. However, it may not be as easy to see why Adobe ColdFusion is superior from a business perspective when it's the only major player with an upfront cost. The recently updated ColdFusion Evangelism Kit now includes a competitive comparison with other leading server-side technologies like JSP, ASP and PHP.

Centaur (ColdFusion 9) User Research Complete

On Friday, I gave a presentation to internal ColdFusion developers at Adobe (Adobe.com, kuler, etc). It was the final meeting of our user research phase and officially concluded the SyncDev process for Centaur. I wanted to take a few moments to reflect on the process and some of the many conversations we had with developers and how it's shaping the next major release of ColdFusion.

ColdFusion Backup & Disaster Recovery License

Did you know that you don't need to purchase additional ColdFusion 8 licenses for your backup and disaster recovery servers? The license agreement was updated and tweaked for ColdFusion 8 specifically to allow for warm-backups. As long as the additional server is not concurrently receiving traffic with its production counterpart, you don't need an additional license. Prior to ColdFusion 8, the license only allowed for cold-backups. It's a small change, but it may save your organization a few bucks.
